Unitree’s ultra-fast stunt robodog

2The Chinese company Unitree has released a viral video announcing its new quadruped robot, the A2 Stellar Explorer – a robotic dog that can run, perform backflips, break glass, and climb steep surfaces. Following the video release, the company’s shares reportedly surged, according to Bloomberg.

In the demonstration, the A2 is shown breaking a glass partition, carrying a person on its back, balancing on one leg, and climbing a 45-degree slope. Weighing just 37 kilograms with its battery, it can carry a person up to 100 kilograms or a load of 25 kilograms for hours.

Thanks to 12 degrees of freedom and a torque of 180 Nm, this robotic dog can reach speeds of 5 meters per second (11.2 mph) – 8 miles per hour faster than Boston Dynamics’ well-known Spot robot.

Inside, it features an 8-core processor and an Intel Core i7, providing a high level of autonomy, along with support for over-the-air (OTA) updates. In addition to physical strength and agility, the A2 comes equipped with modern communication interfaces such as Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The robotic dog is intended for wide applications: from industrial inspections and logistics to emergency interventions and research missions. While the official price has not yet been announced, it is estimated to be around $10,000, making it one of the most accessible advanced robotic dogs on the market.
