OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Health, a new private feature within the chatbot that allows users to import medical records and data from fitness apps, making health conversations personalized rather than based on generic advice. The feature connects with platforms like Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, and Peloton, while integration with b.well allows data import directly from healthcare providers.
Health conversations receive isolated memory and enhanced encryption for privacy, with OpenAI not using these chats to train its models. Previous data shows that over 40 million users already use ChatGPT daily for symptom checking, insurance questions, and other health information.
A waitlist is open, and broader availability on the web and iOS is expected soon, although importing real medical records is currently available only to U.S. users. ChatGPT Health represents another step in OpenAI’s vertical expansion, arriving at a time when AI is gaining more serious medical capabilities and FDA-approved device integrations.
