Nuro gets $203M lift from Uber, Nvidia

tartup Nuro, focused on autonomous driving technology, has secured a new funding round worth $203 million, with major investors such as Uber and Nvidia joining in. The company was founded by two former Waymo engineers and had previously been backed by SoftBank.

This investment raised Nuro’s valuation to $6 billion, placing it among the most valuable private companies in the autonomous vehicle sector. Since its founding in 2016, Nuro has evolved from small delivery robots to a leader in developing software solutions for commercial fleets, robotaxis, and electric vehicles.

According to plans, Uber will deploy over 20,000 Lucid SUVs equipped with the Nuro Driver autonomous system in its international robotaxi services starting in 2026. At the same time, Waymo’s success in launching robotaxi fleets across U.S. cities has further fueled investor interest in this sector.

Nuro has made a major leap in Level 4 autonomy, and this capital injection confirms the company’s successful transition—from running its own small delivery operations to becoming a key technology supplier for large fleets. If this investment is any indicator, we can soon expect to see many more next-generation robotaxis on the roads.
