Meta brings AI into the dating experience

Meta has decided to bring artificial intelligence into Facebook Dating by introducing two new features — an AI Dating Assistant and Meet Cute — designed to help users find partners more easily and reduce fatigue from endless swiping.

The AI assistant acts as a personalized dating advisor, helping users discover compatible matches through text-based prompts. A user simply describes what they’re looking for — interests, habits, personality traits — and the AI then suggests potential partners, date ideas, and tips to improve their profile.

Unlike traditional apps that rely on superficial data such as height, education, or location, Meta’s AI goes a step further by focusing on what truly connects people — personality and shared values.

The second feature, Meet Cute, fully automates the matchmaking process. Each week, users receive a “surprise match” — a person the algorithm identifies as highly compatible. Meta says the feature is aimed at those “tired of swiping,” though users can opt out at any time.

With this move, Meta is attempting to modernize online dating and take on competitors like Tinder and Bumble. However, integrating advanced AI into love life raises new concerns about privacy and accuracy — because no one wants an algorithm to make a completely wrong match in an attempt to help.

AI in the world of love might just be the next big experiment — the question is whether algorithms can capture what humans themselves still haven’t fully understood: what truly brings us together.
