Grammarly’s new AI agents for writing

Grammarly has launched eight new AI agents that act as intelligent writing collaborators, assisting both students and professionals with tasks such as source citation, grading, proofreading, plagiarism detection, and much more.

Among them is the Reader Reactions agent, which predicts parts of the text that might confuse readers, and AI Grader, capable of providing feedback and assigning grades based on given rubrics or course requirements. There is also the Plagiarism Checker, which compares text against databases and published works, while the AI Detector evaluates how “human-like” the written content appears.

All agents are integrated into the new Grammarly Docs tool, presented as an “AI-native writing surface” — a writing space where users receive targeted assistance throughout the entire text creation process.

The agents are immediately available to both free and Pro users, with AI Detector and Plagiarism Checker reserved for subscribers.

With this move, Grammarly demonstrates how the line between authentic writing and AI support is increasingly blurring. While the education system seeks a balance between learning and using technology, and workplaces adapt to AI-first skills, such tools can help users develop real competencies — with AI support where it is most useful.
