Game developers embrace AI at a massive scale

According to a new study published by Google Cloud, over 90% of video game developers are already integrating artificial intelligence into their workflows. Development teams report that AI helps reduce repetitive tasks, foster innovation, and create richer experiences for players.

A survey conducted among 615 developers across five countries revealed that AI is used in various stages of development: playtesting (47%), code generation (44%), as well as for content optimization, gameplay balancing, and procedural world creation. Remarkably, 87% of surveyed teams are already actively using AI agents in their daily work.

The rise of artificial intelligence is also shifting player expectations. Users increasingly seek smarter experiences and NPCs that can learn and adapt to player behavior, further pushing the industry toward an AI-first approach.

However, widespread adoption brings certain concerns: 63% of developers express worry about data ownership rights, while 35% cite data privacy as a primary challenge.

Gaming is an industry that naturally combines diverse elements — from real-time world simulations and 3D modeling to dynamic audio and complex coding — making it a perfect testing ground for artificial intelligence. While some in the community remain skeptical, the trend clearly shows that development is moving toward a single goal: players want the best possible experience, regardless of how it is created.
