Fitbit founders’ AI-powered family health app

Fitbit founders James Park and Eric Friedman recently introduced Luffa, a new AI app that tracks the health data of the entire family, from children’s vital signs and medications for older members to vet appointment schedules for pets.

Luffa uses artificial intelligence to consolidate information that is usually scattered across different apps, doctor portals, and paper records, alerting users when something is off. The app supports natural language queries about family members’ health and allows data input via voice notes, photos, or text messages.

Park and Friedman are self-funding the project with a team of around 40 people, mostly former Google and Fitbit employees, and a public beta test is already open. In the future, specialized health devices are planned, while the app currently integrates data from platforms like Apple Health and Fitbit. This family-oriented approach, especially in the era of growing AI wearable devices, makes Luffa an interesting project for health tracking.
