Coopetition as a business strategy in the AI era

Another session of the Nauka uz kafu initiative was held in an exceptionally stimulating academic atmosphere, met with an engaged and curious audience. This time, the focus was on “Coopetition as a Business Strategy in the AI Era,” one of the most relevant management concepts today, illustrating how companies in a time of rapid digital and technological transformation can simultaneously collaborate and compete.

As always, the event opened a series of key questions at the heart of modern business thinking:

  • How can organizations strategically combine collaboration and competition in the age of artificial intelligence?
  • In what ways are ecosystems of open innovation and shared resources formed?
  • How do trust, reputation, and knowledge sharing become new forms of collective value?
  • Why is AI reshaping the traditional logic of competitiveness and creating space for new partnership models?

Our guests, Prof. Dr. Selma Kadić-Maglajlić and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maja Arslanagić-Kalajdžić, offered an exceptionally deep, empirically grounded, and inspiring analysis of the coopetition phenomenon.

Their presentations covered several key insights:

  • How to recognize the moment when a competitor is also a potential partner.
  • How shared resources transform into innovation and new knowledge development.
  • Which competencies organizations need to build in order to successfully balance cooperation and competition.
  • How AI increases complexity, but also creates opportunities for smarter, more strategic forms of partnership.
