Alibaba unveils its own smart glasses

Chinese tech giant Alibaba has unveiled its first smart glasses, called Quark AI Glasses, which are set to launch in China by the end of 2025. With this move, the company is making its ambition clear to challenge rivals like Meta in the fast-growing race to dominate the AI wearables market.

The glasses are powered by Qwen large language models and the Quark AI assistant, enabling real-time translation and voice commands. Users can make calls, listen to music, use navigation, transcribe meetings, or make digital payments — all through voice instructions or simple gestures.

One of the main advantages is deep integration with the Alibaba ecosystem: the Amap app for navigation, Taobao for online shopping, and Alipay for payments are directly connected to the device. On the hardware side, the glasses feature dual chipsets (Qualcomm AR1 and BES2800), providing continuous intelligence and extended battery life, along with a built-in camera.

Unlike Western competitors that emphasize style and fashion, Alibaba is positioning its Quark AI Glasses primarily as a productivity tool for real-life use, relying on the strength of its own digital service network. However, one key detail remains undisclosed — the price of the device.
