AI in Bosnia and Herzegovina: How are managers using it in practice?

The use of artificial intelligence is increasingly shaping the way leaders and managers make decisions, manage teams, and optimize business processes. However, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, although digital transformation is slowly progressing, many companies still do not use AI tools strategically.

In an interview for Bloomberg Adria BiH, Ajla Karajko, an AI advisor and PhD candidate from BiH, emphasized that local companies often do not trust AI technologies and do not consider them more competent than themselves. According to Karajko, ChatGPT is the most commonly used tool, mostly as a substitute for Google search, while the potential for deeper and more strategic use remains completely untapped.

She points out that the key challenge in BiH lies in changing the mindset. Fear, doubt, and insufficient knowledge of the tools prevent companies from recognizing the opportunities AI brings – from increasing efficiency and reducing costs, to making smarter decisions and fostering innovation.

Implementing AI technologies is not a technical luxury but a strategic necessity. Companies that take that step and begin using AI as a tool in their business processes will gain a long-term advantage and have better chances of staying competitive in a rapidly changing environment.
