SpaceX IPO could hit $1.5T valuation

Elon Musk could soon add another historic milestone to his career, as SpaceX is reportedly preparing for one of the largest IPOs ever. According to reports, the company is targeting a public listing in 2026, aiming to raise up to $30 billion with a potential valuation of as much as $1.5 trillion.

Such a valuation would place SpaceX among the biggest public offerings in history, further cementing its status as a dominant force in the space industry. For Musk, already the world’s richest individual, this move would significantly increase his stake in a company that could become a cornerstone of global infrastructure.

Although SpaceX has remained a private company so far, it has already raised billions of dollars to fund highly capital-intensive projects such as Starlink and Starship. Both programs require massive investment, not only in technology development but also in large-scale launches and the maintenance of orbital infrastructure.

Musk has confirmed IPO plans, linking them to rising demand for AI technologies and the potential of space-based data centers. The idea of shifting parts of data processing and distribution into orbit opens entirely new technological and commercial frontiers.

While Starlink is already generating substantial revenue through launches and satellite internet services, those revenues are still insufficient to support ambitions such as global coverage, orbital data networks, and long-term lunar infrastructure. An IPO would provide SpaceX with the capital needed to evolve space operations into civilization-scale infrastructure—assuming public markets buy into Musk’s long-term vision of the future.
