Anthropic brings Claude Code to Slack

Anthropic has introduced a new beta integration that allows developers to delegate coding tasks to Claude Code directly from Slack, transforming ordinary chat threads into automated development workflows. Instead of switching between multiple tools, the entire process can now begin and end within a single conversation.

By tagging @Claude in Slack, a full Claude Code session is automatically launched, using the context of the discussion itself — such as bug reports or feature requests — as input. This allows Claude to understand the problem without additional explanations and immediately start working.

The integration is further enhanced by Claude’s ability to automatically select the appropriate repository from a user’s authenticated accounts, while posting progress updates directly back into the same Slack thread. Teams can follow development in real time without leaving the platform.

Once the task is complete, Claude delivers links for reviewing changes and opening pull requests, keeping the entire development cycle inside the Slack environment. This marks a significant step forward compared to the previous Slack app, which offered only basic chat assistance.

With Slack serving as the central communication hub for many engineering teams, this integration carries major importance. It reduces context switching, accelerates development, and positions an autonomous AI assistant as a true team member embedded directly into everyday workflows.
