According to a new Bloomberg report, Apple is preparing a major push into the smart home device market with as many as four new AI-driven products, including a desktop robot, a smart display, and security cameras. The launch is expected between 2026 and 2027.
The flagship product in this portfolio is a desktop robot with a motorized arm that can move the screen, track users, lock onto speakers, and respond in real time. The device will feature an AI-enhanced version of Siri, currently being redesigned under the codename Linwood. At the same time, Apple is testing Anthropic’s Claude as a backup system, under the codename Glenwood.
Bloomberg also highlights Apple’s planned “Bubbles” personalization for the new Siri — envisioned as a playful, character-driven personality, somewhat reminiscent of Microsoft’s classic Clippy but modernized. In addition, a smart display running a new operating system called Charismatic OS is scheduled for mid-2026, designed to control home apps, music, web search, and other functions via voice or touch.
AI-powered security cameras with months-long battery life add another layer of home automation — handling everything from dimming the lights to playing personalized music.
Apple’s long-awaited Siri overhaul is still “in the works,” but the smart home AI market is waiting for a product that can set a new standard. With Google, Amazon, and OpenAI (in collaboration with Jony Ive) already aggressively developing their own devices, Apple has little time left to reclaim its edge in the race to bring AI into everyday life.
