Google has officially rolled out Gemini integration into Chrome for all desktop users in the U.S., bringing a new set of AI capabilities like multi-tab analysis, an AI Mode in the address bar, and upcoming agentic features.
Users can now access the Gemini assistant directly inside Chrome via a dedicated button, enabling analysis of content across multiple open tabs — without switching windows. Later this month, the address bar will receive AI Mode, allowing users to enter complex queries and follow-up questions directly where they already search and browse.
Google also previewed agentic functionality, which will eventually enable full automation of multi-step tasks — from online grocery shopping to booking appointments.
This may be the most significant step yet toward an everyday AI assistant for web browsing. While competitors tried to build entirely new browsers, Google simply infused AI into its dominant one — making Gemini almost as natural a part of Chrome as the URL bar itself.
