China opens world’s first robot mall

The world’s first shopping mall dedicated entirely to humanoid and service robots has opened in Beijing, timed to coincide with the 2025 World Robotics Conference. Located in the E-Town industrial zone, this four-story complex spans 4,000 square meters (about 13,000 square feet) and is fully devoted to showcasing, selling, and testing robots.

The concept is inspired by the automotive industry’s 4S model—Sales, Service, Spare Parts, Surveys—applied here to the world of robotics. Visitors can explore and try out more than 100 robots from over 40 domestic brands, including mechanical butlers, robotic pets, and industrial-grade humanoids.

Prices range from 2,000 yuan (around 278 USD) for basic models up to multimillion-dollar robots equipped with chips capable of processing up to 275 trillion operations per second. The government further encourages robot purchases and adoption through subsidies reaching up to 14,000 USD for businesses and private users.

This shopping mall represents a fusion of a technology showcase, commercial center, and a live research laboratory under one roof. China is already investing over 20 billion USD in subsidies for robotics development, and opening such a venue clearly demonstrates its ambition to take global leadership in this industry.
