This July, Sarajevo will not only serve as the cultural hub of the region – it will become the epicenter of artificial intelligence in Eastern Europe. The capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is hosting the Eastern European Machine Learning (EEML) summer school – one of the most renowned educational events in the AI industry – taking place from July 21 to 26, 2025.

Organized by researchers from Google DeepMind in collaboration with local partners – the Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (ANNT) and the University of Sarajevo – EEML brings together top AI experts from Google, Apple, Cambridge, Oxford, and other institutions to share their knowledge with the new generation of researchers and engineers.

EEML is more than a summer school – it is a strategic tool for developing the regional AI ecosystem. Its mission is clear: to empower local researchers, PhD students, and engineers through direct interaction with global leaders in the AI field. Sarajevo is the first city in Bosnia and Herzegovina to host this school, following previous editions held in Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Serbia.
