Imagine that instead of traditional science lectures, people come to their favorite café – with a drink in hand, among friends – and listen to top experts talk about fascinating topics in science, technology, and society.
Now, this is possible – right here in Sarajevo.
Nauka uz kafu is an educational-social platform designed to bring scientific topics closer to the general public through public lectures and dialogues in an informal setting. Through collaboration with leading experts, the project promotes scientific literacy, critical thinking, and social engagement. Our goal is to make science part of everyday life again – accessible, exciting, and a natural part of conversations we have over a drink.
We thank our partners from the Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology in Bosnia and Herzegovina and UNDP for recognizing the importance of this mission and giving it a boost.
Events are held monthly at Club Špica in Sarajevo, on Tuesdays, and are open to everyone who wants to learn, ask questions, and connect through knowledge – regardless of formal education or profession.
This educational-social initiative aims to:
- democratize scientific knowledge,
- strengthen scientific literacy and critical thinking,
- connect science and society through timely and interdisciplinary topics,
- break down barriers between scientists and citizens,
- open space for dialogue on ethics, technology, health, and society.

On Tuesday, June 25, the first event within the Nauka uz kafu initiative was held. The guest lecturer was Assistant Professor Dr. Senka Krivić, an expert in industrial robotics, automation, and the digital transformation of manufacturing systems. The topic of the lecture was “SMARTER FACTORIES: AI and Robotics Shaping the Future of Manufacturing”, and the goal was to present current trends in the application of artificial intelligence and robotics in industry, with a special focus on opportunities and challenges in the context of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Through a clear and approachable presentation, Dr. Krivić reflected on the development of Industry 4.0 and explained the key components of transforming production processes. The audience actively participated in the discussion, with questions ranging from practical examples to ethical and educational challenges posed by the digital industry.
The event demonstrated how great the need is for such formats – for a space where science is not perceived as a closed system, but as a living topic that concerns all of us. We thank all attendees for their engagement and openness, as well as UNDP in BiH for supporting the realization of this project.
